About the PTCE exam
This exam is designed to validate the knowledge and skills of pharmacy technicians to ensure they can effectively support pharmacists in their role, while maintaining medication safety and improving patient care.
To qualify for the exam, candidates must have completed a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program or equivalent work experience in order to be eligible. The exam is 2 hours long and consists of 90 multiple-choice questions. The PTCE is scored on a scaled score system. The range of possible PTCE scores is 1,000 to 1,600. A passing score is 1,400 - or approximately 87%.
