About the CRC Cert. Rehabilitation Counselor Exam

The Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) examination is a credential offered by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) for professionals who provide counseling services to individuals with disabilities. The CRC credential demonstrates that a counselor has the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide effective rehabilitation counseling services to individuals with physical, mental, emotional, and/or developmental disabilities.

To be eligible for the CRC exam, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Hold a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from a CACREP-accredited program; or
  • Hold a master's degree in a closely related field (such as counseling or psychology) and have completed specific coursework in rehabilitation counseling; or
  • Hold a master's degree in a closely related field and have at least 18 months of supervised rehabilitation counseling experience


The CRC exam is a computer-based test consisting of 175 multiple-choice questions and candidates have a total of 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete the exam.
